Coventry Telegraph - Wish 2012

The Coventry Evening Telegraph are giving schools and local community groups the opportunity to have a piece of £25,000.

In the newspaper there will be a 'Wish' token. Parents and carers of Corley Centre are asked to collect up as many tokens as possible, so we can have a piece of the action! Depending on how many tokens we receive, they will be spent on new equipment and more trips out for our pupils!

The more tokens we get the bigger the sum of money we can have!

Macmillian Coffee morning!

Its that time of year again to come together, eat cake and drink tea for a good cause!

Students at Corley that take part in Monday club are organising the coffee morning at the Corley village hall. Parents, carers and friends of Corley are invited to raise money for people affected by Cancer.

It is also a great opportunity to socialise with our new families in Year 7.

You will be receiving an invitation shortly and a request to donate some lovely cakes to help make the morning really special!

We look forward to seeing you!

Chill Out Room!

What a busy week...

The year 7's this year are lucky enough to have access to their own personal 'Chill Out' room. At Corley we encourage all pupils to reflect on their feelings and anxieties, but sometimes we just need 5 minutes to ourselves.

The Year 7 Chill Out room has had a revamp! Thank you to Mr White for helping me Wednesday evening!

P.E Permission Slip

Dear Parents and Carers,

Please can you remember to return the permission slip that allows Year 7 Pupils to be taken out for P.E lessons.

We sometimes visit St Augustines Sports Centre and later on in the year organise P.E sessions at the AT7 centre.

Many Thanks

Mrs Capp

On a monday at 1pm you will be able to go to the splat shop! Take your planner with you to show how many splats you have collected up so far.

You will be able to buy things from the shop with your splats. Don't forget each splat is worth 10p!

Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

What is a SPLAT?

A splat is something the pupils at Corley can earn linked to their Personal Learning and Thinking Skills.

Each splat is a different colour.
  • ·      Self Manager – Red Splat
  • ·      Creative Thinker – Purple Splat
  • ·      Independent Enquirers – Blue Splat
  • ·      Reflective Learner – Green Splat
  • ·      Team Worker – Yellow Splat

Each week the pupils will be set a target to work on in lessons and throughout the day. They will achieve a splat where they have met the target and worked particularly hard on a task.
Sometimes pupils will get splats for being helpful or coping with a difficult situation.

On a Friday in mentor time, the staff in year 7 will have a 1:1 chat with each member of the group, count up the splats for the week and check their overall progress. All targets are discussed with the pupils and are chosen together.

We are currently working on remembering to take our planners to each lesson, and work on our targets. If pupils don't remember their own planner splats will not be recorded.

Parents/Carers
Talk to your child at home about their target and their splats, as they are very proud of each and every one.
